Atari Breakout is a classic videogame that was first released by Atari in 1976. The objective of the game is to slam the ball against the rows of bricks. The player must break all of the bricks to complete each level. To keep the ball in play, the player controls a small paddle that can be used to deflect the ball. If the player drops the ball and allows it to hit the bottom of the screen, that ball will be lost. This genre of games is sometimes also referred to as Arkanoid games, after Taito’s video game Arkanoid, which appeared a decade later.
